Biography
Noke Kiroyan has several decades of experience in senior management with top-performing multinational corporations. His cross-cultural communication skills and background in senior management allow him to blend local knowledge with modern managerial know-how and devise business solutions with socio-cultural acumen.
His English, Dutch, and German fluency further enable him to communicate across cultures and nationalities.
Noke’s areas of expertise include general management, strategic counseling, mining industry, socio-political issues, public relations, crisis management, corporate social responsibility, good corporate governance, and community development.
Experience
Noke began his business career as a management trainee with Siemens AG and earned his professional commercial and accounting qualifications as Industriekaufmann in Nuremberg, Germany. Eventually, he became president director of the Indonesian subsidiary.
After 17 years with Siemens, Salim Group recruited Noke to oversee two chemical plants at the Dutch-German border and in the former German Democratic Republic. He then moved to Melbourne, Australia, where he served as a group representative before continuing to Dublin, Ohio, to expand group operations in the United States and Latin America.
In 1997 Noke returned to Indonesia to assume president directorship of Rio Tinto Indonesia and simultaneously head the Rio Tinto Foundation. He built up the company’s reputation and helped resolve long-standing issues with local communities in East Kalimantan and subsequently was assigned to manage world-class coal mine Kaltim Prima Coal jointly owned by Rio Tinto and BP at the time that was going through a challenging share divestment process.
In 2005 he accepted an offer to become president director of PT Newmont Pacific Nusantara in which role he was instrumental in the establishment of the North Sulawesi Sustainable Development Foundation (Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan Sulawesi Utara). He resigned as president director but remained as president commissioner until end 2007 while concurrently establishing Kiroyan Partners.
