Biography
Verlyana Hitipeuw has experience in strategic planning, project management, and communications – an experience she started building while studying at the University of Indonesia.
While pursuing her master’s degree, she wrote her thesis on political and economic pressure implications on journalists in Indonesia. Several institutions supported her field research in Jakarta, including the two most prominent journalist associations in Indonesia – the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) and the Association of Indonesian Journalists (PWI). The thesis was then completed with distinction.
In addition to her master’s study, Veve attended two international summer courses in Germany – one on globalization and politics in 2008 in Kassel and one on German culture in 2005 in Dresden.
Experience
Veve started her career before she even graduated, working as the media program officer at the Indonesia Representative Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), the largest and oldest German political foundation. While there, she oversaw the design and implementation of media development and public relations projects.
Veve has held internships at the Indonesian Newsroom of Deutsche Welle and the United Nations Environment Programme. In addition, she worked at the Global Media Forum, an annual international conference organized by the Deutsche Welle and the city of Bonn. She later worked as a freelance translator before joining Kiroyan Partners in 2014 as a Senior Consultant; then, in December 2018, she has promoted to Principal Consultant.
