Context
A global food and beverage company with a strong portfolio of consumer brands sought to strengthen its positioning in Indonesia’s cocoa and coffee sectors, both of which are critical to its supply chain and product portfolio. The engagement began with a need to better understand how the company was perceived locally, and expanded into a broader effort to navigate industry dynamics and stakeholder relationships.

Challenges
The company faced limited visibility into how its brand was viewed by key stakeholders, as well as how influence and decision-making were distributed across the cocoa and coffee value chains. Without this understanding, it was difficult to design effective engagement strategies or align business objectives with local realities.

Our Approach
Kiroyan Partners supported the client through a series of analytical engagements. This included a targeted brand perception assessment involving selected stakeholders, followed by in-depth analysis of the cocoa and coffee sectors to map key actors, institutional dynamics, and engagement pathways. Building on these insights, we developed strategic recommendations to guide stakeholder engagement, enabling the client to approach both government and industry actors with greater clarity and relevance.

Impact
The client gained a more comprehensive understanding of its position within Indonesia’s agricultural ecosystem, including how it was perceived and where influence resided. These insights informed a more structured and effective approach to stakeholder engagement, supporting the company’s strategic initiatives in both cocoa and coffee sourcing.
