Irwandy Arif is an experienced expert in the mining industry. Besides his dedication to Kiroyan Partners, he is currently an Independent Commissioner at PT Multi Harapan Utama and PT Inco Tbk. He is also in the Audit Committee member at PT Adaro Indonesia, and Committee II Chairman at the Majelis Wali Amanat (ITB).

Apart from his professional career, since 1992 he has published and presented a multitude of literature both nationally and internationally. Some of his recent papers include "Estimating Rock Mass Long-Term Strength Using In-situ Measurement and Testing Results", ISRM Conference (2008), "Lowwall Stability Analysis, A Case Study at Gatotkaca Coal Open-Pit", PT Arutmin Indonesia Satui Mine, South Kalimantan, Indonesia (MPES 2006 15th International Symposium on Mine Planning & Equipment Selection, Bangkok Desember 2007), "An Effort to Continue a Sustainable Development in Post Mining Area, Case study: Antam's Nickel Ore Mining on Gebe Island, North Maluku Province, Indonesia" (MPES 2006 15th International Symposium on Mine Planning & Equipment Selection, Torino, Italy, September 2006).

He earned his Bachelor and Master's degrees from the Industrial Engineering Faculty at ITB. He then continued his studies in University Ecole des Mines de Nancy, France in which he acquired three titles, Ingenieur Expert en Mine (1987), Diplome d'Etude Approfondie (1988), and Doctor (1991).
